Gary J. Balas Atrium Reservations Calendars
The Gary J. Balas Atrium (130
Akerman Hall) space is
typically an AEM student study space and priority is given to this first,
especially during the academic year. It can be used for AEM Events (Graduate
student orientaion, BAEM pre-graduation reception, award AEM New Majors )and
other AEM student activities such as AIAA , poster presentations or model
presentations for AEM freshmen seminars. These events and activaities will be
for short periods of time and preferably late afternoon or early evening during
the week (Monday-Friday), except for holidays. Priority for reservations is
given to units within Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM).
For Information on Reservations email:aem-dept@umn.edu . The email should include:
- Date of Event
- Start and end time of event
- Setup and Clean-up Time Needed. You should allow for an hour
on each side of th event.
- Name and contact of person responsible for the event and the
purpose of the event.When making a reservation, you will be required to
designate a contact person who is responsible for the proper conduct of the
event and for returning the Balas Atrium to its original configuration.
- Size of the group.
AEM does not provide any support services for
events. A reservation does not provide event support services such room
setup, cleanup, A/V equipment, catering, extra custodial support or security.
The Atrium space is provided as is. Regular custodial servicing occurs on an
intermittent schedule after hours typically. For events, the Atrium may need to
be straightened and tidied prior to the event start. The sponsoring
organization or department is responsible for all these arrangements. If the
event is on a weekend, the user will needed to make arrangements and cover the
fees for opening up and closing the building through
Facilities
Management.
Food. If food is to be served at Event, the
User may arrange for catering or deli services with the caterer of its choice,
provided the selected caterer is
licensed
through the Minnesota State Department of Health and obtains a permit from University's
Department of Environmental Health and Safety. Permittee is not allowed to
bring in and serve food unless approved by the University Department of
Environmental Health & Safety
