FOAMING
CRITERION
-
Foam appears at the top of the reactor when Ugas is larger than a
critical value for a fixed U liquid .

If you increase Ugas for a fixed U
liquid you
push down the foam.

If you increase U liquid for a fixed U
gas, the foam
retreats.
-
There is no foam when U liquid is large enough.
The interface moves down when the gas is increased and
moves up when the liquid is increased.
This is the way reactors foam; the bubbly mixture below
is consumed by foam.
