Rachael Winiecki Makes History by Becoming First Female F35 Developmental Test Pilot
On December 14, 2018, former AEM alumnus at the University of
Minnesota, Rachael Winiecki, made history by becoming the first female F35
developmental test pilot after completing the F-35 test mission. Rachael
commented on how aviation tends to be a male dominated field but sees the
number of women entering the field increasing. Winiecki is grateful not only
for her own accomplishment and recognition, but for all the women who came
before her and paved her way for success. Rachael received her Bachelor of
Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota in 2007
and a Master of Science (MS) in the AEM department in 2009.
